FRCR 2B Exam Preparation Support
72 year old with abdominal pain.
Abdominal radiograph of 72-year-old patient presenting with pain. Small bowel loops are dilated. The large bowel is normal calibre. Appearance suggestive of mechanical small bowel obstruction. A calcified density is projected over the left pelvis close to the sacroiliac joint. No free air. No radiological evidence of ischaemia. No air is projected over the liver. The appearance on imaging is suggestive of a mechanical obstruction due to gallstones ileus. I would urgently convey the findings to the referring clinician.
