69 year old with abdominal pain
Answer
Abdominal radiograph of an adult patient. There is abnormal lucency in the right retroperitoneum surrounding the outline of the right kidney. The appearance on imaging is concerning for emphysematous pyelonephritis. No bowel obstruction. No additional free air is appreciated. The bones appear within normal limits. This is an emergency. I would urgently conveyed the findings to the referring clinical team.
